Ring-A- Ring-A-Roses

Very moving. The last part was great.

God! Times are moving. As always Ramesh's articles keep with time (rather his age - from the student days with Ajay, marriage(SCI) and now this). Yes, very telling. Interesting. and very close to the bone.

Ramesh, I guess there must be many travel agents around who must thank you. I can just visualise the net searches, calls, etc for tickets and reservations back home .............

An audacious heist...

the robbery in england was near merseyside (liverpool area). One of the guys impersonated a lorry driver and drove off with a truck load of books. Now that was clean, and remember if you are buying a book on the black market it is likely to have literally fallen off the back of a lorry (in England things bought without a question, are said to have fallen off the back of a lorry).

Dear India And Pakistan...

God this should sure give me pleasent dreams.... The ideas here are pretty old - cliched. It takes us from two nation theory on to no theory and says let do peace. Okay here are some points (a) Indian have never said the land of the paki_wallahs doesnot exist. It does and Vajpayee (much against the wishes of his party men) did go to that pole in the night soil pit called minar -e-pakistan. Yet those paki_wallahs come back for more.... (b) from one nation to two nations theory to three nations theory we have moved. Doesn't porous borders imply that we should go back to one nation theory. For a lot of Indians we might enjoy the odd Nusrat, and Adnan Sami but hey I draw the line at inviting these undercivilised paki-wallahs into my house. It is better to have these pigs outside with a big fence to stop them from getting in. They will never cease in their dirty attempts. They have blood on their hands. (c) what woud India gain from letting them in? Nothing -nadaa zilch. It is better to have a TRUE SAARC which comprises of co-civilisations like Sri-Lanka, Bangladesh, Indian, Nepal. The paki-wallahs think they are the descendents of the tribe of quereshis from Arabia and have things far more in common with them then the rest of us in the Indian Sub-Continenet. So be it. They are invaders sitting on our lands and culture.

Illusions!

Yep, its finally happened. Matrix has definitely been visited by Ramesh or is it that Ramesh has been visited by the evil machines who control the Matrix! Naah on second thoughts, think Manoj Night Shyamalan has bitten Ramesh. the Signs are there. I was waiting for the day when Ajay would transform himself. There was a Transition, but that was illusory surely. I could not stop reading this piece. Everytime I stopped I was confused, bemused, - sort of could not put my finger on it. Yes I found it disturbing in a strange sort of way. Again it is not disturbing in a disturbing kind of way - the story lingered on in my head for some time. Everytime I made a move to sort out the story and see what it was made off I came off badly. Then it struck me - could it be that Ramesh, the man who chronicled Ajay and his antics for us and immortalised Martillo on SCI, has turned serious in his musings. Transitions was poor compared to this outing. Then it struck me - change Aditya's name to Ajay and see if it makes sense. Yes it does in make sense but then I came back to Ajay's world - I remembered he was married. But then a writer has to take liberties with hs characters. A strange, disturbing outing of Ramesh. If he was not the creator of Ajay this story would have been one of those put out by people going through a crisis. That I think is the nub of it all - the disturbing sense. That the creator of Ajay has gone all Matrixy and Shyamalanisque (sp????). I was expecting something humourous and kept telling himself there will that sudden turn in the next paragraph, sentence, word....and there it ends. Well, its been a long time coming. Thanks for this piece. Transitions are but illusory ..... CK
